A classic evening  ;D

Clearly we needed a photo of those assembled around the Table of Heroes.  There was a group of ladies behind us, one of which caught our eye.  Here we are trying to persuade her to join us for the photo:

She declined, sensible woman:

Thanks for the giggles chaps  :-*

Top time chaps but I'm gutted to have missed OD's tarmac moment!

I'm pretty sure the other, possibly quieter tables, enjoyed our conversations and vision for a blogging website

Journey back was stress free

The way you lot carry on we'll all get tarred with the same brush if we're not careful.

Was he singing at the time?  Perhaps a rendition of that Don MCLean classic "Tarry, Tarry Night"

Did you manage a back-flip off the tarmac pile, as per Martyn Ashton's move in the golf bunker ? (see http://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=63976.0 if you haven't seen the video already)

Well, I have been keeping this quiet for some time, I don't like to blow my own trumpet, quite the reverse in fact.  But, the simple truth is that I taught young Martyn all he knows.  The lad has done very well for himself.

Not quite. I think Huggy got a better view than me but I did hear something along the lines of 'Who the f*ck put that there!'

I know I have had my share of clipless moments recently but all are eclipsed by OD trying to release himself while scrabling around in a pile of tarmac.  Unfortunately there is no photographic history of the event as my eyes were so filled with tears of laughter that I couldn't get my phone out in time.
OD really must be more considerate with enjoying the moment a little longer because that's two photo opportunities I've missed now!!

Aye,   many's the time he's climbed out of a ditch/hedge/mineshaft too quickly, then refused to get back in for the photo opportunity.

Terribly inconsiderate.

Not yet.  I know what i'm going to add, I just need a little bit of time and araldite to arrange it :)

It's also time to open the floor to nominations for the recipient this year:--

Call for nominations

All MEMWNS riders are hereby invited to nominate a recipient for the glorious trophy this year.

Please PM me with your nomination(s) with a short justification.

I will then, in traditional MEMWNS benevolent dictator fashion, carefully considerignore these and choose a winner.

NB I will not comment on the rumours that are (now) circulating to the effect that special consideration will be given to nominations received on the back of banknotes.

I'm not available tomorrow. Mrs C. is going out so I'm in charge at home. May be going to Papermill Lock on Saturday morning to meet up with the WARTY to perform baton handover duties.

Nope. Babysitting. Listened to the Radio 5 documentary about Lance Armstrong on the I-Player whilst eating crisps and doing a great pile of ironing.
I'm meeting the WARTY lot for elevensies on Saturday morning at Papermill Lock for baton handover if you fancy popping out.

We are busy on Saturday. I might be able to slip out for a quick spin on Sunday but its by no means a dead cert.
