A 7:30 departure probably puts us in Coggeshall about 8:45 without a pitstop so a swift one there for a 9pm arrival to meet Tomsk could work, unless an earlier rendezvous with Tomsk is desired.

I also thought the same as we only have 15 miles to ride to Coggleshall, we will aim to stop for a light refreshment unless Tomsk desires an earlier meet time!  :)

So another enjoyable MEMWNS last night..... in attendence were myself, Huggy & Andy C33 from the Witham crew and we met Tomsk at The Chapel Inn Coggeshall having battled through the (quite thick in places) fog and numerous puddles! Which at the bottom of Cressing resulted in Andy filing up both shoes with water....

A couple of pints of Coggeshall Gold were consumed from the local Red Fox Brewery in Coggeshall as well as some Adnams Ghost Ship whilst talk revolvewd around audaxing as myself and Andy edged ever closer to becoming hooked!

Next Saturday (6th) the Mighty Oak Brewery in Maldon is holding their Christmas beer tasting. Yes that's right, you get to drink free beer. The idea is you order a mini (16 pints) or poly pin (72 pints) for home consumption over the festive season (you collect it closer to Christmas). In my experience a mini pin is adequate for the casual drinker except if you think Oaky might pop round.

Anyhow, there's a plan afoot to leave Witham about 9:15, ride to Hythe Quay arriving about 10, have breakfast on a barge then arrive at the brewery about 11am. Then we go to the Blue Boar for lunch. Take it from me, this is a very pleasent way to spend most of a Saturday.

Who fancies it?

I would, but for the small matter of being at this event instead.

(No, I wasn't drafted in at the last minute: we're spectating en famille).
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

If I can make the timings work I'll join for the ride to breakfast and head home straight after to go see Master H in Panto.
The cafe on board the barge has a reasonable amount of seating but as a group I'd just like to warn them of our intention to be there, also due to the protocol of them not allowing high-heeled shoes on board they would probably like us to remove cleated shoes too, OD will have to take off his high-heels anyway.

We [Flitchbikers] are going to the SPOCO South-East cycle jumble at Leaden Roding for bacon rolls, mid-morning on 6th. Then I, and anyone else up for it, will join you at the Mighty Oak & Blue Boar.

Soupy and the Dunmow Rockers will be going to Maldon too [by car ::-)] - we'll have to negotiate on which brews to order.....

OD I am hoping to be able to join you for the journey across for breakfast, I will probably need to depart after visiting the brewery and making my Christmas order.

Looking to Wednesday night this week, The Swan in Felsted was mentioned last week, how does this suit everybody? I will look to put a route in place today or tomorrow!

Because I missed the day we did calendars at school I got my dates mixed up and now find myself able to join on Saturday without time restriction  ::-)
(Panto is on Sunday)

Felsted is a good destination (as also mentioned The Flitch of Bacon is also over that way), I hope to be able to join but other activities during the day may dictate otherwise.  If I'm beside the roundabout at 7:30 you'll know I'm out to play.

Ok Huggy if we don't see you present and correct at Spa Road roundabout on Wednesday we know you are unable to join us

Don't know about this new broom idea...no TMNH and perfect opportunity to use the Flitch Way not taken up, plenty of drinking time though   ;D

No north hill some people will be happy. The flitch of bacon had some nice ale on when we did the witham cycling led ride and they could prob do with the customers. We could do north hill but we will have to put the hammer down for the extra miles.

I'm happy to incorporate TMNH if others want to, my only reasoning for not dropping it in was due to it being in the opposite direction   :o , i'm also happy if people want to head down the Flitch rather than the road, I will stick to the road though to save my mudguards getting filled up with mud & stones as I don't have a lot of clearance between then and the tyre

If I'm on the Brompton Saturday morning I will ride the trail otherwise, if i'm on the Pinnacle I will probably opt for the road instead

Only becomes a valid reason when it prevents the rear wheel turning round  :'(
