Someone did come off on Pennsylvanian Lane, it might even have been me - can't remember.

We need photos. There's a COR thread in The Gallery.

Checks COR section quickly.

I think I'll probably catch up with you on Roundbush Road at the top of Winters Road, assuming I come up via the reservoir.

Damnably, that means I'll miss Pennsylvanian Lane...

There is a little muddy section leading onto Winters Road so I will be with you in spirit.

Dear boy, as many on here will tell you, just because a route is part of the NCN doesn't guarantee you can ride a bike along it.

This is the COR thread we must contribute to.

I've just woken up so I think my best plan is to see you at the Compasses.

Pennsylvania Avenue is fine!  Man the fuck up!

Pennsylvania Avenue sucks a fat one!

The last time I made the mistake of following the crowd along Pennsylvania Avenue, riding my commute bike, I had to keep stopping to reattach my chain lock to the rack.

Wus!

Pennsylvania Avenue was fine!  There was more COR as well, not sure where it is exactly but it was well muddy over the little bridge that seems to be permanently closed with concrete blocks - it's near Earl's Colne.

Anyhow, another big turn out and fast pace. We had a some headlight induced faffing which contributed to us not getting to the pub until 10pm!  But DL, our new Beer Bitch, managed to serve us a brace of pints a piece.

Another good night awheel.

Carlos and I were having a very quiet evening in the Compasses until you lot turned up.

The New Beer Acquisition System worked well - we must remember to tip the waiter   ;D

By the way, I've posted my ride report on last weekend's efforts on the 'Yellowbelly' thread in 'Audax'.

OD I have the Gopro evidence ready to download from the camera and once edited I shall add to the COR thread, our other section of closed road COR was along Newhouse Rd that runs for a time along the side of Earls Colne airfield!

I have to agree that this was a great idea of OD's as we still have £25 odd squid left in the kitty ahead of next week! Quite amusing that we finished off the barrell of Heresy in the first round.......
Another good turn out and good paced ride despite the headwind induced/light faffing late arrived at The Compasses Pattiswick

A great write up Tomsk

Thanks  I do sometimes find it hard to say more than: "I went for a bike ride. It was fun." So this was along those lines, but a bit more informative!

The ones where things go wrong always make a better story, though.

Enjoyed that write up.  It (almost) made me nostalgic about Fenland headwinds!

Agreed.

Another good evening.  Apologies for the light faffage.  I blame Evans.  You can blame me.  I have now purchased an incredibly attractive light for my helmet as well.

I have a feeling with all you serious PBP type and racers that the pace and mileage will only increase in inverse proportion to the amount of beer drunk as the weather and light improve.

It will do me good trying to keep up.

... Apologies for the light faffage ...

I think I heard someone mention you had a Hope 1?  If so it is my earnest belief, not universally accepted, that Hope put the handlebar clamps on the wrong way round. This error prevents the user from getting said clamp tight enough. The problem is easily fixed, I can show you how.

I do and please do.

It worked fine after I sorted it out in the pub.

The pub is a good place to fettle.

Tippers and Huggy (lighting gurus) saw me right last night.

And another thing, in the same vein as above ^^^, having a back up light readily available is a good thing.  Get yourself on eBay and search for "Cree XML" and you will find something like this..  These Chinese lanterns are oriental knock offs of much more expensive lights.  You might not want to rely on them full time but they are excellent sources of extra light (like when negotiating shit surfaces) and superb backups should the need arise.  I never leave home without mine.

It's actually not that difficult.  Remove the clamp from the underside of the light with an allen key.  Turn it round by 180 degrees and re-attach.  The clamp then does up from the front (like a classy bra  ;D ) and makes it much easier to tighten up (in my experience).

Will try that.  Seems logical.

I used my back up light last night (one of the lessons learned from my mishaps last time out !).

Can it be undone with one hand without anything popping out unexpectedly?  ::-)
