Crown at Messing sounds good.  Hoping to be able to attend - will have to see how work goes.  being back in the UK is cramping my MEMWNS style almost as much as being in the colonies did.   :-\

I should be out to play this week.

Ted, are the links you provided publicly viewable?  I get an error when trying to go there or a permissions error when trying to download.

They are secret tracks that only I can follow  :demon:

Either that or it is my usual level of technical wizardry  :-[

Give me a minute (or so)...

You should have seen Sister Carol Fandango and I trying to navigate round the Suffolk Lanes - we missed your steadying hand on the tiller and ended up with a track that looked like a hedgehog as it had so many wrong turns.

Oh dear, I'm afraid points will be deducted for posting a link with privacy settings not sufficiently fettled.

Can you have a negative points total ?

How does that deduction compare to wearing avant garde shorts whilst drinking G&T ?

Nonsense. We should celebrate individuality.

I was thinking more about having to do 20 miles home in a headwind as strong as today's....  good news is it looks like it will just be a mere breeze so likely I will arrive via TMNH

Hope to see you there.  The main peloton should be arriving just after 9 subject to how late DL decides to turn up at Spa.

It's coming to something when we all think that 15mph is a light breeze for cycling.

I'm sorry I accidentally tipped my pint in your lap ted, did Mrs ted comment favourably on your soft, fluffy pubes after their beer shampoo?  The glass of Merlot was the least I could do by way of recompense.

It was a good night, good to meet jiberjaber and see Nutters out again, this time with a rear light  :o  I'm going back to The Crown this evening with The Current Mrs R for a spot of dinner as it looked so nice.

Another fine evening.

I intercepted the Witham peloton at Great Tey. They had been following my well crafted route which only included two wrong ways on one way streets this week.  It did, however, deliver myself, Oscar's Dad, Huggy, GavinSSN, AndyC33 and a bloke from Maldon CC who looked like Doggers Lane to the Old Crown at Messing bang on schedule after an easy paced ride.

The Maldon CC bloke left us at that point as he had to return his rental bike but we picked up Jiber Jaber who had soloed up from Chelmsford.

Brewers Gold and various Adnams were consumed.  OD also introduced me to his Pub Pube Power Wash (TM) which turned out to be him throwing a pint in my lap while gesticulating excitedly about Huggy's van or heavy bikes or something.  He bought me a large Merlot as a slightly odd peace offering.  Fortunately there were no other off piste catering or drinking choices to report.

It was great to join up with the peloton last night albeit a shame I couldn't stay for the evening's entertainment.... I would of paid good money to see Ted receiving a lap full of drink couteousy of OD

The Maldon CC bloke left us at that point as he had to return his rental bike

Indeed the Hornet (although I know OD says bumblebee) rental bike was returned in time having achieved my quickest MEMWNS average of 17.5mph after a moderate pace within the peloton dipping into threshold for 5% of the ride

Could be a small peloton in the coming weeks with OD missing & Ted and the PBP'ers *Huggy, Ted insure you sign up to the PBP challenge on Strava  :)

My next outing probably won't be until the 2nd September  :(

Try to contain your jubilation.

Is that your polite way of saying that we are too slow for you even at moderate pace ?  Your new friends at Maldon CC will be most impressed I am sure but they won't throw beer at you or rip the piss in quite the way that we do

You'll be back come winter when all the shiny bikes are put away and everyone's on their turbos except the mighty MEMWNS peloton on their steel steeds.
