Surely the real question is whether, as he's on his way up, a 23C space-ship will appear from nowhere, grab his ship with a tractor beam, cause it to disintegrate, put him through some unlikely adventures, then go a little further back in time and put him back again so that he has no memory of any of the events? I hope someone will be tracking his ship carefully, that's all I can say.
