The top of wall-mount cupboards is well above eye level mostly.
If the ducting was visible from some distance back, then would it not be trivial to use a length of kick-board or similar to box it in?

I don't think you understand the world of posh kitchens. I'm not paying £40k to be reminded my ductwork exists.

Anent ducting crap, when a tractor with 5m³ of wood in a trailer cracked and blocked our main effluent pipe under the drive we found that the bandit who had done the original installation, before we bought the house, had not only used indoor-quality PVC pipe* but had effected a T junction with duct tape and a plastic shopping bag.

Hilariously bad. The air from the cooker will be warm and damp; ideal for making the duct tape peel off.

As said, there are adaptors. The lazy cowboys didn't want to take the time to go and buy the adaptor.

Don't pay them until they've done it properly.

Check it it connected properly to the external vent. I suspect they might have used duct tape on that as well. Should be a giant jubilee clip, or even cable ties would be ok (that is a bodger's opinion, I am not a plumber).

My kitchen is so posh that the extractor fan vents directly through a hole in the wall. Ducts, my god, have you people not seen Alien?

Any alien that fitted inside the pipe connecting the Larrington Towers spa room extractor fan to the Big Room would be as threatening as as a drugged-up Chihuahua, not to mention considerably smaller.  Kitchen extractor fans definitely belong in the “Raddled Posho” category.

The main point of rectangular ducting is to lay flat on top of your cupboards to avoid ruining the look of your kitchen when you post it to Instagram / Posh Kitchen Magazine.

The cross section is much smaller so it won't flow as well.

Mrs P has a large cross section now, will that help?

Lol.

Some one from the company has just phoned and said he agreed it was not a good job and is on his way round with a colleague to ascertain what needs to be bought or done.

And it's nice to be able to shower in a warm room and not be cooking in a sauna.

And I can take those stupid rubber seals off the kitchen and bathroom doors now.

Forgot to mention, today's guy said that yesterday's guy had it set to recirculating mode.

(I had thought to check this when I was inspecting the manual last night but I was too busy using my spoons on strongly worded emails).
