I have a photo, give me a while...

...the sneaky-jump went well, but within about 10 seconds, on the approach to the first corner, I looked round and he'd already eaten most of my gap and was closing at an impressive rate and would catch me within ~100yds, rather then the mile or so to the pub.

 ::-) I was alert to the move, to paraphrase the great Ali - if you even dream about getting the jump on me you had better wake up and apologise. :P

Indeed -- re-reading what I wrote above, 100yds was probably way optimistic. (EDIT: you were practically on the wheel already when I looked round).

If i had know were the finish line was, I wouldn't have gone down that hill so fast, and burnt my self out, leaving me to trail in a very slow 3rd  :demon:
Thankyou for a good ride and a good evening, getting in at 12:30 and then being up at 5am was a little hard going especaliy with the amount of 'Carb loading' we did.
Mrs Andyf was not amussed about the quantity of 'carbs loaded' and i was warned of the dangers of 'Carb loading' and cycling together to much  :'(

Sounds a familiar account of post memwns. Not that I know or have ever knowingly met MrsAndyF, but I have a friend who gets the same feedback from his Mrs.

Gentlemen may I alert you that it is the Compasses beer festival this weekend. Mrs B is working at V she's Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, honest; so I am a little lumbered with the children.

However they are on a sleep over on Sunday so I if anyone wants to meet up there I would urge Sunday as a preference for me, what say you guys? They are capable of riding there on Saturday though if that be your decision. I expect some of you may manage both days.

I've been over there today to help setup and all is looking good.  Good choice of beers and massive marque if the heavens do decide to cool things down a little.  I'm about on Sunday, give me a shout

I'm now an either but I am forbidden from riding with the kids to a beer festival so will have to look for alternative transport.

Yep over there on Saturday but not sure what time yet as I've a friend staying over.  Providing his lungs are still internal organs, Oaky might be along as well

What time(s) can everyone do on Saturday then?

I'm still up for popping over Sunday providing the beer hasn't run out of course  :D

It involves a complex procedure not disimiliar in nature to a Mason's initiation, but with the addition of a larger and pointier vegetable

Well, the Compasses beer festival was ace, and the ride back to Howe Street was superb, even though I hadn't brought a bike :)

Anyone coming out to play tomorrow?  Any suggestions/requests?  My legs are still a bit weary, so I'm looking for a gentle recovery spin somewhere rather than another beasting at the hands of our toroidal friend  ;D

Thought I might venture out. If the weather's nice and my CBA abates.
I'm slightly less foul-tempered so more likely to temper my pace and intake.

I assume a Chelmsford start works well for you.  I can be there at around 19:00.

Lets see who else signs up and then think about a destination.
