What is it about Mondays?
« on: 04 October, 2021, 01:42:19 pm »
It’s over three years since a Monday was any different from any other day in my life, but Mondays are still difficult. Why is that do you suppose. I have some ideas, but in reality they still seem to be the most difficult day of the week.
For every complex problem in the world, there is a simple and easily understood solution that’s wrong.

I do not know your context.

Do you work?
Do you like that work?

When work's shit I find monday to be the worst day and friday the best.
When works good I find Wednesday to be the worst day and the rest the same.

Decades of conditioning.  School and work.  It's been ground into your mental circuitry and only 3 years release from the treadmill isn't enough to erase it.  Perhaps in 2 or 3 more years?  :)

Oh, is it Monday?  Thought it was Thursday.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Oh, is it Monday?  Thought it was Thursday.

I only know which day of the week it is from the days printed on the blister packs of the pills I take every day.

According to one of mine it's Sunday.

When I forget to take them on a day, all the days change. It is very confusing.
It is simpler than it looks.

I have a daily routine which only changes if I have something pressing to attend to - like high tide demands that I get to the beach pronto for a swim.

1. I put the porridge on.

2. I fill the kettle and prepare the tea pot.

3. I clear the table and take the cloth into the garden for a good shake.

4. I check the rain gauge and the thermometer.

5. I prepare the table for breakfast.

6. I take my tablets off the shelf and open my journal at the correct page.

7. I take my favourite fountain pen and write the day and date below the end of the previous day's entry. Sometimes I double check my phone in order to do this.

Thus I usually know what day it is.

It’s usually about one in the afternoon when I find out I’ve forgotten to take my tablets and if I’m out then by five o’clock I’ve got no idea what bloody year it is. It’s best not to forget them.

Next Monday our water authority is cutting ours off while they change the meter. Arse.
