The joy of the wireless and wired world
« on: 31 January, 2013, 06:05:47 am »
I am currently in India, in a hospital, with my father who is pretty ill.

Its quite hard work, as I am here pretty much all day and then alternative nights (as my sister takes the other night).

The difficult part is being away from my family and I find it so weird that thanks to the net, i can share pictures of where I am and what is going on so easily. In the old days when I was younger, to get a message quickly you had to use a telegraph system (I grew up in Africa).

Also the net, allows me to retain my sanity as in the periods when he is sleeping etc, I can read blogs, forums etc which help me retain some sanity and a connection to the outside world. It would be very easy to sink into a trance like state where my whole world revolves around the hospital.

Anyway, just wanted to share how grateful I am for the internet and indeed, wireless modems and pcs.

+1 for that.  The worlds a lot smaller than it was even 15 years ago, until you have a poorly relative somewhere else... Best wishes to you & your family Sam, stay sane!!!
