I'm leaning toward the D90 for a first dSLR purchase, though the D60 & poss the D200 are there as well.
The low light capability of the D90 CMOS sensor really seems, to be on a par with the D300; not sure about the video -
may be useful.
A colleague points me every now and then to SH D200s, but for the £450-700, I suppose the body weight, the age, the battery life, lack of substantial - if any warranty, and the D90, slightly put me off. The D90 kit is £750-£850, but - the D60 kit can be had for £280 from Jessops (inc Nikon cashback) which is a
great price. My only issue with the D60-D40 is not major, but probably comes down to bracketing features, lack of in camera focus motor; the compact size is a definite plus... But my lumix and FE2 (having my Provia 24mm landscape attempts developed soon) will tide me over in the meantime...
