Post by: Jaded on 07 June, 2021, 08:49:15 pm
Probably should be titled "Not folding a green screen"

Maybe it will go better with beer.

Come on, don't be horrible.

Devoid is good enough.

So, it is over.

One of the rivets in the band bent and the cloth got irretrievably twisted up. I reckon my green screen had a stronger band in it than all the "How to fold a green screen" ones on YouTube.

So now I have a green screen bit of cloth, and some Dremelled lengths of steel.

It looks very much like the same way you'd fold a bandsaw blade (when it is intact).

It'd be nice if the photos alluded to were displayed.  I haven't even found them in the source code.

Brother in law came round with a photo backdrop and "a challenge", wasn't impressed when I folded it up and gave it back to him.   It seems that youtube isn't always the answer.

Basically Youtube gives you about 2 or 3 different ways of doing it, all of which look easy. It became clear though, that my bandsaw was considerably thicker and tougher than the bandsaws in the YouTubes. Given that the black border was ripped in two places and the cloth was winding round the riveted bit, I'm now quite comfortable that the Dremel was the correct way to file the green screen up...

The green screen was used for video conferencing  :)

I have a round green screen that attaches to the back of my chair.   It ‘pops out’ like a pop-up tent and fits into an impossibly small bag.

I haven’t bothered trying to put it away.  I just leave it attached to the chair.

When a bandsaw blade snaps at a sawmill it contorts into an ugly ball of stored energy.  The trick is to engulf it in fast setting concrete before doing anything with it.

I hope this is helpful.

And some googling shows that the particular model of green screen I had was prone to failing. Sometimes after only a year (mine was 10 years old...)
