I'm drinking tea, wearing a hair mask to moisturise my hair and a face mask to moisturise my getting old skin.

I have swept the kitchen floor, put together a suet pud, mixed the Yorkshire pud, Jan has prepared a load of veg. The washing machine is going, the dish washer is going, and we are off for a walk later - a nice bit of bracing sea wall.

I am also wondering: should I buy a new bike?

Just got back from a visit to the stables I used to ride at aged 11-19. One horse, Carrie-Ann, a Dales, still remains. Lovely mare. We chatted to her owner, a good friend, for over an hour. Then went for tea with a family friend who's not so well, baffling woolly with thick Lancs accents. Now having tea and warming up.

I initially read that as 2009, and assumed that you had broken the resolution after less than a day.

I don't need to buy a new one yet, I've got a self assembly Kaffenback in bits in my living room, waiting for me to get back home and build it.

Sitting in front of my PC, eating flapjack and trying to wiggle my toes back to life. Just got in from a gentle pootle, 4 laps of Sefton Park then down to the promenade at Otterspool and followed the Mersey back into town.

My water is still off, so I've bought some mineral water to make coffee and I may need to decamp to my parents for a shower!

Making sure the wood burner is with wood ( fnarr fnarr ).

Basically relaxing. I shall pop out soon and ensure the MonstaThorn is fit for a ride to work on the 'morrow.

Just been checking the outside pipe work on my balcony. A ruptured joint

And the building contractor who is supposed to do our repairs has buggered off and it's unlikely the managing agent will be able to deal with it until tomorrow.

Luckily it's still freezing. If it defrosts my downstairs neighbour is going to have a shower in his kitchen .....
