Amanda Coker breaks more records.
« on: 24 October, 2021, 10:32:13 am »
She rode almost non-stop for 24 hours. I have lifted the following quote from her facebook feed:

My results are currently being certified by the WUCA record chairman, until they are verified here are my UNOFFICIAL RESULTS BASED OFF THE WAHOO LAP BUTTON:
100K - 2:42:33
100 Miles - 4:19:40
200K - 5:23:10
300K - 8:06:35
200 Miles - 8:42:37
300 Miles - 13:17:00
500K - 13:45:30
500 Miles - 23:13:45
6 Hours - 138 miles
12 Hours - 272 miles
24 Hours - 514 miles
Some quick facts:
I went 342 miles before stopping, and only to use the restroom. I stopped one more time for a quick front light exchange.
The crosswinds were present all day long, thankfully I was riding my Felt Bicycles IA & Zipp wheels to battle against them.
I stuck to a liquid only nutrition regimen.

Nice reference, Mr L

Her performance was astounding. Added nearly 9.5% to the previous record.

(I think she mentioned the liquid nutrition thing because she is sponsored by Tailwind. It is quite a proof-of-function test for the product.)

Steph Mottram and Christina Murray could disagree if they wanted.

And the 12-hour distance was five miles behind that achieved by Beryl Burton in 1967 :demon:

Why is Christina Murray's distance not listed by WUCA?

I think records need to be set in WUCA events in the US.   The 'world' fixed gear record is just over 400 miles despite the UK record being over 480.

Its probably another of those 'World Series' things.     Didn't stop Cycling News repeating the incompleteness today - https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/amanda-coker-becomes-first-woman-in-history-to-break-500-miles-in-24-hours/

Doesn't take anything away from the achievement though.  I wouldn't ever have got near 500 miles.  And her distance would have won most 24 hour TT championships in the UK outright.
