Washed the 3 main bikes.  Put gel pads and Toshi leather bar tape onto the steel Rourke in a bid to make it more comfy

Put some raceblades on my single speed - so easy why did I put it off for so long?

Been wasting a couple of hours trying to make Suntour cantiliever brakes work as good as the claims for them suggest.

They'll have to go.  V's are so easy to set up and at least they work!!!

Well after a visit from the faeries this morning, and on discovering my spare tube (well one of the two I was carrying) although unused had split - I came home, changed both tyres and tubes on that bike, degreased chaing, rings and cassette, and washed it. Also set up the turbo with my other bike and fitted a "trainer" tyre to that. Then I ordered some fresh tubes, a pair of kyrlion carbon tyres, 3 new power links (I lost half of the one I was using when cleaning the chain) and a road morph pump  ;D

Son's MTB front wheel picked up two thorns.  Goodness only knows where he rides to get all these thorns.  >:(

I take it you are using the self-energising ones?

I had some on a Kaff a few years back, they were excellent, although a little too powerful.  IIRC it is only the rear that is SE

Well today I took the handle bars off the moulton and cut them down to make bull bars.  These were non moulton curly road bars. Then attacked a pair of motorbike handle bars to make a funky pair of roadster/moustache  bars.

Tried to get the quill out of the moulton frame but it is corroded in so but some plus gas on it and will leave it a while also looks like.

Fettled the moulton midi as the back brake was sticking, lubed then replaced the cable and it still sticks.  So I gave up, for the day.

Exchanged the Michelin XCRoad tyres on the uber-commuter for Scwalbe Marathons. I'm not sure I will be leaving the roadies for dust any more, but at least I won't find myself precariously heading for a motorway entry slip road.

The wife has been out for the evening so I took the opportunity. I don't get around to it very often, but that only increases the sense of anticipation. I wiped it clean first. Then I rubbed and rubbed, slapping on plenty of wax and stopping now and then to warm it up with the hairdryer. My palms are sticky and I'm glowing slightly, but I feel a zen-like calm and sense of satisfaction. I know that men have been doing this for generations, and I feel a spiritual connection with ages past.

Yes, my Carradice cotton duck rackpack is now fully reproofed and ready for winter.

Got my trailer out after two years' layoff.  Pumped the tyres up, and it seems fine.  Even the light works :o Though I wouldn't want to speculate too long about what the batteries look like :-\

Yup, the SE's on the rear of the tandem.    Ironically it's the rear which is the real squidgy and useless one.

The old banger - oil and filter change and replaced the 1/2 litre of gearbox oil that pissed out during wheel bearing replacement a couple of months ago.

Replaced the koolstop front cartridges on the Raven with shimano ones as the squealing was driving me BONKERS!  I don't care if it reduces rim life a bit, i hate the squealing!

Fitted Dynohub & lights to the fixie. The rectifier had blown so fitted a new larger one.

Mended the p*nt*re in the time trial bike - picked up a sharp flint while warming up for the last time trial of the season and DNS-ed. Couldn't be arsed fixin' it before.

Pumped up the tubs on old sprint rims to see if they still hold wood up.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

Well attacking a Raliegh Cameo 3 speed for a friend.

Well I stripped the bike the other day and today attacked the chrome bits with wire wool (mainly the front wheel rim, front brake, the cranks and some of the handlebars and, stem.) polished the frame with polish andd now its all shiney.  I then regreased the wheel bearings and bb and headset and re assembled.  I even assembled the tyres and tubes with slime tyre liners.

All that left to do is attack the rear wheel rim with wire wool and finish the handle bars and stem and rear brake.  Then give the bike to my friend to use to pootle around london.

Well, yesterday.  Stripped, cleaned and serviced the Ashtabula BB on Miss Z's bike.  I rather like the specialist tool-free design (one 32mm spanner does it), although they're impossible to seal properly.

I hate cleaning out bearing cages though, and I'll get some loose 5/16" balls for next time.

Yesterday: fitted a bottle dynamo (thanks, tatanab ) to my daughter's uni hybrid. It took me an age, but I could do another one in five minutes, now.

Yesterday fitted bar tape to my Raleigh fixie and a new stem on the Sabbath only to find a different dia on the handlebars. Watch out in the Sale columns!

Nearly three weeks ago I attempted to fit some Koolstop brake pads to the front of my Ribble, but I gave up after a lot of faff. Returning to the task today meant more filing, this time of the washers. The pads are now on the bike, but I couldn't be bothered to faff with the rear brake and just fitted some new Campagnolo blocks to the back brake.

I also cleaned the cassette and chain. I then tried to stop the chain rubbing on the front mech when using the 50 x 12 and 50 x 13 gear. However, I've discovered the problem's caused by the chain sitting higher than it should on the chainring, which is caused by huge amounts of chain wear. As much as it pains me, I'm going to have to spend more money on the bike.
What on earth am I doing here on this beautiful day?! This is the only life I've got!!

Repaired the nose clip of my crash damaged Brooks Swift, which decided that is was going to try and eject itself off of the saddle rails. It failed, but left the saddle twisted. Judicious use of Glasgow screwdriver, file and vice, and the adjustment bolt now sits where it should do, and the front the the saddle looks something like it should. Whilst I was at it, also polished some of the scratches out of my ebay buy seatpost.

Replaced the bog seat.  For the first time in over twelve years, I can now have a wazz at home without having to hold the seat up.
