Jolly Boating Weather

One hundred and fifty-four races - and despite being a Town boy who fled to Bristol rather than attend Oxford, I still yell at the telly every year.  And didn't they do well?  Cambridge had them sweating at first but the dark blues just had the rhythm and power and when Cambridge started to tire, Oxford just plain didn't.  Fine work from the cox too: some very aggressive moves to shut Cambridge's attempts at a comeback down before they got any traction.

Isis took Goldie too.  Double lovely.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

I was quite surprised when my daughter phoned while travelling asking to be kept updated on the race. She's in her 3rd year at Cambridge and, tbh, is disillusioned with the place, but was still pissed off that Oxford won.

I didn't put my usual fiver on Oxford this year, on the basis that they had no chance.

If Cambridge had splashed Oxford with their oars as they came past they might have won.  ;D
Maybe I should start a rowing team at my school in the swimming pool or the puddle by the music block...  ;D

Had a couple of beers tonight with part-time coaches in the cambridge squad. They knew they were underdogs, the plan was a balls-out race to hammersmith, then try and hang on. Sadly, they weren't far enough up...

Well at least the total score is still in our favour.

79-74.

You can't consider yourselves our equals until at least 2013.

Or you could say, we've been equal since the war...
