A placard in the Happy Swedish Halls Of Joy the other day advised me that $PLÅTË makes a pratical lid for the matching BØWL.  Right next to the checkouts.  Although it’s [“The Death of the Soul” – Mr Sunshine] so no-one else will have noticed.

I'm not sure if this is a typo, a deliberate ambiguity or simply the correct word, but whatever it is, I like it:

[Working in a high-end fashion store]’s not all been bad. You get some good mates, the retail causalities – people who only care about going out every night and free clothes. Contemporary hedonists, degenerate behaviour rises out of fashion retail like a phoenix.

That reminds me - one of my colleagues referred in an email yesterday to "a rise in causal sex post lockdown".

It was related to a marketing campaign for a high-street health & beauty retailer, nothing more interesting than that, I'm afraid.

Or Kamara, perhaps?

Or Carnera?

Carnera was the name of a mighty Clydesdale horse that pulled Barr's delivery carts around Falkirk in the 1930s.
He was locally acclaimed as the 'Biggest working horse in the world'.
At some 20 hands high, he was named after the Italian boxer, Primo Carnera.

He gets a mention in Jim Carruth's poem, a homage to the heavy horses that powered transport and agriculture in pre-industrial Scotland.

Andy Scott's Kelpies sculptures at Falkirk are inspired by this poem; they are the 'Mighty Twins of Carnera'; sited as they are in 'this kingdom between canal and firth', one bowing it's head to the water, the other stretching it's neck to face the sun.

It could be a pun. Haul as in acquisitions? A tendency to make puns was thought in the early 19th century to be a symptom of insanity...
