Eating "manners" are definitely one of those age, social class and culture things.

Many South Asians eat using their hands/chapattis etc.
Not long after I came back to the UK after have been in India for a few years, I went for a meal with two fine upstanding members of this forum (okay, it was Flatus and Jaded) at an Indian restaurant. I can't remember what we ate, though the food was pretty good, but I do remember that at one point  I noticed I was instinctively tearing little bits off my chapati and using them as a sort of scoop for other food, while F&J were not. I expect I wouldn't now either.

USAnians are just plain weird when it comes to cutlery.  Starting with their insistence on referring to it as “silverware” even when it’s molished from plastic.
And "flatware".

Put a ´ on it and you have what the varmint then became. Unless it became a hat.

Today's new-to-me phrase is pod federation, which not only gives me an image of peas united, but reminds me that when I was a small child I knew an even smaller child known, for some reason, as Pod. The great but sometimes frustrating thing about IT people is they take English words and put them together in a way that is almost but not quite a new language.

It was definitely Pod and not Paud?  Paud being short for Paudraig (I've probably spelt it wrong, but it's the irish equivalent of Pat short for Patrick)

'Pod' is a virtualisation thing, isn't it?  Somewhere between a container and a VM, for cloud computing porpoises.  (I know very little about that someone-else's-computer stuff.)

Presumably they federalise in order to take to the clouds, or something...

We used to use Pod as a descriptor for a small group of developers in some iteration or other of managements idea of agile development
For every complex problem in the world, there is a simple and easily understood solution that’s wrong.

I think we had pods once – the idea was to embed developers with teams of sales engineers, sales etc. (or vice versa) to give them a broader perspective. It wasn't a bad idea on paper, but developers and sales in the same room, nah. It had a short half-life.

Yes, pod is to do with virtual machines, clusters and load balancing. I think federations is part of the load balancing process and also to ensure VMs are available to users worldwide even if their nearest server is down.

But Pod the small child was a unique individual.

Never heard pod in that context. We 'containerize' (everything runs on Amazon, who manage all that availability business).

When we moved into our outpost the photocopiers where placed in a cubicle designated copy pods. The resident Ecologists had jolly japes by putting up pictures of small crustaceans in them.

I remember that well  :) . Interestingly, i am more likely now to use flat bread as a scoop. Possibly because of you and possibly because of going for several meals at the house of a local restaurateur.
It is simpler than it looks.

DFDS: Hello, it looks like you're not going to use that travel credit from last year, would you like a refund instead?
Mrs P: Ooh, good idea, that will come in handy!
DFDS: OK confirmed, you may need to wait up to 45 days to see the munney
Mrs P: <grumbles,  45 days??>

47 days pass, no munney appears

Mrs P: 'ere where's that munney you offered me?

My physio once said that to me.

Physio: "what did you do last weekend?"
Nutty: "400k audax"
Phsyio: You need to rest this injury.   What will you do this weekend?"
Nutty: "600k audax".

Mind you, what with a further injury, annoyance re Southend Cycle Town fiasco (as discussed in here), and other more important life matters, I've had many years rest since.  I am now fat, unfit, and cannot believe what I managed easily in the past.    I wish I'd never taken the time off the bike.
