« on: 26 October, 2010, 02:45:22 am »
Is there a list anywhere on the web of the national equivalents to AUK ?

Particularly after the USA - East coast, for a recent aquaintance of mine in Massachusets?

The way audaxing is organised in various countries is highly varying. Sometimes only BRM's organised by a tiny group of people, not to closely organised, in other countries randonneuring/audaxing is a part of a much larger cycling association with all the benefits (and rulebooks) deriving from this.

Obviously the same tkatzir who's on this forum. He's a busy chap!

Must say I never heard of any Randonneurs when I was in India, but then I wasn't looking out for them.

New England Randonneurs are a club active in the Boston Area.
The New England Randonneurs, Inc.

I see they have a fashion co-ordinator, we could do with one of those, maybe a catwalk show at the AGM.

So they waited for me to leave! (not that I do audax anyway, I just find it interesting) I see there's at least one Indian Randonneur from Bangalore, but no one I recognise.

Sent that link to my buddy Karthik.

She is a two-time fastest female PBPer, not bad considering she always rides unsupported. Their cartography coordinator is a good bloke, Chip Coldwell.

Does anyone know of any contacts in Lome, Togo, West Africa? Audax UK will be a million miles away! But due to work my family may have to relocate. Has anyone cycled there or know of any contacts? Mike

The only randonneurs/Audaxers I know of in Africa are in South Africa. There are many cycling clubs in Africa but not many that target long distance cycling.

The ACP list every Brevet Randonneur Mondiaux event in the world on their website, so that would be the place to start looking.

This chap: http://www.wallisonwheels.com/ went through that part of the world on his way to Cape Town.

I did have a contact over the border in Cotonou, Benin.  American Peace Corp chap - brilliant photographer, and got involved with coaching the local racers - rather than audax/randonnĂ©e style riding.  However I think he's moved on, or even back to the US now.

I would imagine keeping to BRM times on most of the roads in that area would be  "a bit challenging".
