One of the standout moments last night was the attention tippers' new mudguards got. Blokes stood in the dark stroking them. Very sad!

Can't say I blame anyone though...they are designed to look that good (and be functional!) Was gutted it was as dry as it was actually.

Sorry to hear about your badger-induced off, Tomsk.  I thought it was huggy the badgers were out to get?

I'm wondering if we should all get inoculated against TB.

Just to clarify I have not named my Bike or my Mudguards.

I got them from Tredz, there are a couple of other places that sell them (one on Ebay) but I know tredz deliver fast. Not the cheapest but I am seriously impressed with the quality!

Well, grazes a bit sore today, but otherwise ok, no sign of TB.....yet.....

On a more positive note, I've been down at Flitch Bikes putting the headset and bb in a new frame for my winter fixie project, which has suddenly moved off the back-burner: Genesis Day One 853 frame [half price in their sale], trp Spyre disc brakes etc, very modern and understated bling; didn't think I had it in me  ;D

Lots of bike bits to play with in the next week or two and a few vital decisions to make, like what colour bar tape.

That sounds rather good!  Look forward to seeing it on the road assuming I can extract myself from USAnia for long enough.

Good grief. First Tomsk uses a GPS in the Alps. Shortly he's going to be using disc brakes. The world is turning on its head.

Genesis Day One 853 frame [half price in their sale],
Sounds good, any frames in my size?
Been thinking about a Surly Disc Trucker fork for my Pompino! Should be an easy swap as it has the same configuration as the Pomp fork except the steerer tube is 50mm longer.

When I first enquired, about a month ago, Genesis had all sizes of frames in the 853 version. The complete bike was marketed as a superior commuter with Alfine Di2 hub, but a bit pricy at over 2 grand. The 520 framed, mechanical hub geared version sold better and there was a more limited range of sizes of both frames and complete bikes in the sale [but well under half the price of the 853 ones] - nice shade of blue for that one though.

Hi all what a goodnight on Wednesday it was 2 pints of knob which tasted ok then the last pint of a brown coloured liquid was shocking. Nice fast ride home chase Mr D Lane. Garmin went tits up and lost 3 miles. Hope you didn't suffer to much damage Tomsk to your bike and yourself .

Glad to hear there wasn't too much damage to you or your bike Tomsk!!
Presuming we are all out to play next week I have tried a second attempt at devising a route to this CAMRA pub http://www.the-three-elms.com/ in Chignal St James. The bad news they don't sell any Knob  >:( the good news and in honour of Oaky they do sell Mighty Oak  as well as Maldon Gold and Colchester No1!!
I have plugged in this route taking into account TMNH and Od's adversion of returning to far north of Chelmsford after dark http://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/8122710 please note there aren't any dodgy private roads to travel down on this particular route and it also includes a fairly direct route home.

The Three Elms does a good line in home made Scotch Eggs and pork scratchings.

I'll be somewhere over the Atlantic at the time though.
