I have also messaged The Oddie to see what outdoor facilities they have, not heard back yet.

Where to this week?  Obvs this is our first week in T2 but I'm keen to get awheel even if I just make a quick stop for a cheeky pint.  Mind you so far the forecast for Wednesday evening is dry and not too chilly so perhaps we could sit outside somewhere...

Happy to go to an outdoor venue, with suitable extra layers of clothing. The Cross Keys in Hatfield Peverel is possible, enormous marquee - presumably with sides opened up now, table service was good last time. I'd like to continue to support the Spiritual Home though - sitting outside, of course.

Please don't feel pressured to come here.

Just so you know, we are now entering loss making territory, so the future is looking a little bleak...
You can’t just call time out and stroll on into the beach if you don’t like the way things are goin’.

I'm ok for the Compasses or somewhere reachable from Tier 1 land.

Yes, I think we will see a lot of pubs closing over the next few months

Sorry to hear that, Joss.

As an aside I’m in North Yorks for the week.  We went on the steam railway today and one of the couple opposite us was wearing a Felsted jacket.  Turns out it’s the couple that run the Chequers.  They have just shut up for a few days as they saw little point in opening.

I'm in...however in the my current state of health I'll make my own way over.

Also, the Alma in Copford seems to have set up a pretty good outside area including a bar. I will pop up there and find out exactly what the scoop is and report back.

@josser, can you book us a table in the marquee or should we phone the pub?

Just got this from The Oddie, sounds promising...

Sorry for late reply Steve, yes we have benches outside under a marquee shelter that can seat 6 people. Its chilly though obviously! We don’t have heaters yet I’m afraid.

Snap, I've just received a similar message from the Oddie!

I'm up for a relaxed EER meet there if anyone would like to join me?

BTW, I'm having a think about an easy to carry outdoor beer drinking wardrobe which could get me thru the winter months.

You could use a sleeping bag, and take a straw for drinking purposes as getting your arms out of the bag all the time would be tiresome

Yes, a relaxed meet at the Oddie sounds good.  It looks reasonably mild this week so we could save the heated oasis at the Alma for another week.  Happy with either - it's the EER way of life  :)

More generally, it's time for MEMWNS/EER/ACME/les Gravelleurs to do their bit for the Spiritual Home.  There is nothing to stop a separate group of 6 going on another weekday evening and I am up for some weekend adventures that might just happen to pass by there around lunchtime

Potentially up for some weekend riding as well but I am VERY out of shape!

Slight hitch, the Oddie close at 9pm on Wednesday 😱

Do we want to go early or head off somewhere else?
