Something new to aim for in 2020 as a build up to an SR Series or as an end in itself as a Super Rouleur

I think it's a great idea... the SR series is not everyone's cup of tea and not achievable by all. I ticked the box once and have no urge to it again... on the other hand, a Rouleur series is very appealing... shame Caledonia is so far away...  :'(

Many thanks S2L. Your sentiments are exactly why we've put it together.

Sorry we're so far away. Hope you can make it up sometime but maybe the idea will catch on elsewhere 8).

Agree with S2L - a great idea. I've only done 1 SR series too, back in 2014. Thought at the time it would be the first of many more in the future but I haven't managed one since.

Physically (I think) I'm fit enough, but in recent years I've struggled mentally and haven't had the resilience to ride into and through the night. Both of my attempts at a 400 have been aborted at about 300km (just as it's getting dark) and I'm starting to realise that maybe the longer rides are not for me and I may never do another SR series.

A challenge around shorter distances is a most welcome 'stepping stone', not just for my personal ambition but also for those like S2L and newcomers aiming to step up distance too :)

It can also be a goal in itself, with no aim to step up any further. 300 km is by all means a very long way to go. Not everybody is interested in overnight rides... in fact I would say they are a bit of an acquired taste
The challenge is not dissimilar to a Randonneur 1000, which does already exist, but here (I hope) the distances have to be done as such and not replaced by longer ones... it gives more relevance to BPs, which aret excluded in most awards or repleaceble with longer distances

Good to hear people's comments on this and see that we are on the right track with something to give inspiration and cause for adventure to those who find plenty of endeavour going up to 300k with the added bonus of being home under the duvet at least for some of the night.

Also with running over a rolling 12 months any newcomers starting mid season can roll through to mid next year

Looking forward to the season ahead 8)
