Ouch and wow. I tried one, couldn't work it properly and it buggered my hand up for ages afterwards cos my hand isn't so good.

I'm trying to loosen things up a bit before I get turfed to the physio - unlike the weekend's attempt at riding, short as it was, this little experiment seems to have been rather more successful.

Yeah mine was a trial under supervision of fab hand physio. Post-injury recovery of good hand is less annoying than my disability issue so hopefully you'll get on well with that & physio.

GN - our choice of an iPad for my Father's 81st birthday present was generally well received.

BN - he's somehow managed to persuade it to default to Romanian.......  this means I'll have to go up again & fix it

And he's now managed to lose his imported collection of (pirated) books, has reset it to factory defaults & is struggling with the number of passwords an iThing requires.

I should have stuck to buying him bottles of single malt .....

GN: I have the rest of the week free from emptying my sack.

BN: The weather looks like it will be shite.

GN: I am off to Bishop's Castle on Friday for a weekend of beer and puerile, laddish behaviour.

BN: n-1... The Raleigh singlespeed conversion was always too big for me  :'( so it's been sold to a taller mate.

GN: Selling that and another couple of bits has paid for n+1 again!

GN: I've been OK'd to ride again
BN: Within reason - I have to be 'sensible' - definition of the word 'sensible' is left as an exercise for the reader.
GN: The fracture is 70% healed and the remaining 'fractured' bit is starting to fill in with bone. Despite having a limited range of motion and assorted aches my right hand is quite usable. I only need to wear a splint at night.
BN(?): Apropos of the 'sensible' above, I've been warned that if I break it again then there will be surgery. This is not an avenue I intend to explore.

Oh happy day, etc.etc.

I intend to - the 11th Commandment is "Thou shalt not fuck about with scaphoid fractures".

I'm happy to restrict things to the turbo for the moment, with possible ventures to the LBS and/or local hostelry once my ROM starts to improve a bit more. Ragging it over rough stuff probably isn't going to happen until the new year at least.

But who cares? I can ride again!

GN: First Level 3 OU module assignment marks back - 92%    (Albeit it's a half weighted assignment)

BN: The Level 2 maths module I'd studying concurrently is proving tough, I don't like hard sums and I suspect the Level 3 maths module that follows on next year to be even worserer. Eeeep.

More GN: 89% for the writeup of the residential module I did back in August.

BN: I'm on International Rescue duty and can't have a celebratory drink till my partner gets home from her night out.

GN: The bus didn't break down today, so there was no half-hour wait for a replacement,

BN: The bus got stuck in traffic and took half an hour to cover the last 5 miles of the journey. I am not allowed to get off, take my bike from the luggage locker and cover the last 5 miles somewhat faster.

GN:  The pub are getting in Old Speckled Hen as one of the guest beers.

BN:  They've only got one barrel.  Its now settling in the cellar and should be ready just as I leave for Waleslandshire.

This Hurtigruten trip I'm on, they're desperate to fill as many places as they can in a cold, damp, rainy November.  In fact, for a couple of days last week, the crew outnumbered the passengers 41-38.  So anyway, they're offering a northern lights "guarantee" in November and December, in that if the lights don't show then they'll give you a free trip in spring next year.

The bad news is, I won't be getting a free trip...

The good news is left as an exercise for the reader.

GN: I have the next two days off.

BN: That means I shall be bearing the full brunt of the Solstice postal rush once I return. My back is already playing up...

GN: I have secured the Saturday and Monday off prior to the 25th, so I shall be able to drive the kids to Luton for their trip to Hungary.

GN:  Had my podiatry biomechanical assessment today.

BN:  It's taken since July to get the appointment.

GN:  My insoles are being crafted by elves and will be ready just after Christmas.

BN:  My insoles won't be ready till after Christmas.

GN:  Light at the end of a long tunnel.

GN:  According to the podiatrist, by next Summer I should be living something approaching a normal life, able to be as active as I was before, mostly without pain.  I can do that.

Good news:  They are finally reflooring & redecorating the communal stairwell & landings serving my flat.

Bad news:  I keep my bikes on the top floor landing.  I'm going to have to move them somewhere.....

Moar Bad news: Someone's stuck a note through my door saying that the bikes are a safety hazard.  This is bollocks.  They do not obstruct access to either the stairs or to the neighbouring flat  >:(      I'm going to have to have a word with the estate manager.

Good news:  Picked up a pair of lovely long-stemmed blue glass candlesticks in a charity shop, they only cost £3.

Bad news:  The superglue to fix one of them after I dropped the bag cost another £3.
