Just out of interest to expand on OD's rules, should we not come up with some formula for the mileage value of a pint and a potential sliding scale for the more you drink which can then be added to the ridden miles?

Now you're just trying to skew it even more towards you & Oaky  :demon:

The opening post, many moons since, mentions more miles and less beer - just saying like.

And some of us don't drink!

Mind you, we have been very rubbish about organising Friday Night Rides to the Pub. I think the last one was a couple of years ago.

But no mention of the wrong compasses on the card...

Just wondering how long it will take Oaky to come up with an algorithm based spreadsheet including (but not limited to) the following factors:

miles covered
real ale drunk
dogging spots visited
time of day
ambient temperature
width of tyre
type of carradice deployed
wind direction
Wetherspoons consumed

Oaky will deduct points if you sit on a Brooks.

he will also deduct points for Carradices, but likely to award bonus points inversely proportional to the number of gears on your bike.

I guess Lager should also be a reduction and cider from the tap should also be a deduction. Cider from a barrel, especially of the 7.2% and above sort should count double  ;D

I'm up for tomorrow. However, work may get in the way as I have a project deadline on Thursday morning. Best get on with it then I suppose!
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

Only if I don't have to do the COR in question.

All good, see you all there

Having been to Heybridge Basin this afternoon with Mrs Tomsk, for a walk and a cream tea, reminds me we haven't been there or Maldon recently. I'm sure we had beer at the seaside, in daylight, last year, but also looking forward to the Mersea Yacht Club ride...

Just thinking out loud  :P

So upon Huggy and Ted's decision we headed back to The Compasses Great Totham last night (good choice), the Witham peloton was formed of myself, Huggy and Andy C33. We met Tomsk and Ted at the pub and as we sat finishing off our first pint Oaky turned up

With new beers on we sampled 4 pints each from the selection with Tomsk and Oaky helping themselves to the 6.66% Coggleshall Beast, also sampled were Aurora, Yakima Gold, Red Fox IPA and Broadsword the landlord and lady seemed pleased to see us back and we had the added bonus of 4 pints in the final round being free having filled up our loyalty cards!  :o  ;D
Sadly with CAMRA in attendance the previous evening they had been cleaned out of these so Oaky will have to wait until the next visit to collect his one.  :'(

All up another top MEMWNS evening with the added information from the landlord that he has the hefty 9% Belgium ale ageing in the cellar (of which we had a smaple taster) which come Christmas should be up to 15%........

Glad you all had fun.  I'm not around next week either  :'(

On my way back from Shenfield station yesterday evening I spotted Oaky coming up TMNH as I barreled down it.

Oaky did mention passing you at speed as he was climbing up TMNH

This loyalty card thing is a CAMRA effort then and not something to do with the "kitty"?  ???

My downwards velocity was much assisted by two panniers and Magic Bag Midi TM containing a suit, smart shoes, cycling kit worn in the morning, a great number of locks, a laptop and sundry other items of stuff!

You're back on the beer I gather

The owners of The Compasses provide loyalty cards like you get in the coffee shops, due to the copious amount of beers we consumed on our first visit and then last night we managed to fill up 4 cards and yes they did then form part of the ''kitty''

I thought for a moment, having turned over the calendar, that Book Club, sorry 'Book Club' was this Wednesday evening, but turns out it's an afternoon meeting, like most of the ones that I missed anyway during the winter. I helps I actually a] read and b] enjoyed the book, this time. Phew!

Weds will be a write-off work-wise anyway as I've got to be up at Audax o'clock to take Soupy + mates to Luton Airport for their jaunt to the Sweden Rock Fest.

So...Queens Head, Maldon? Or Blue Boar, or Heybridge pubs??
