Dare I ask about this evening ?

Anyone ?
To avoid a tumbleweed moment...

Who is around tonight and what are the "dietary requirements"

EDIT - Just realised there is a train strike, so no train assist option today

Tedshred - Train assist or Easterly (25km to Kelvedon not east??)
GS -  anywhere - but slow getting there
JEM - Available this week? Train only?  = Witham, Chelmsford or Kelvedon?
Huggy - Still recovering from the lurgy?
......

Suggestions as it was "westerly" last week.

Chequers - Goldhanger?
Railway Tavern - Chelmsford
The Swan - Little Totham

Thanks GS, I was beginning to think MEMWNs had been disbanded without me knowing.

There isn't much train assist this evening.  I am happy with an Eastern or Central venue -Queens Head - Hurdlemakers - Cross Keys - Sun - Alma - Olde Albion would be the boundaries of the horseshoe shape around my offshore lair. Any of those pubs or anything within that horseshoe is good for me.

So:

Chequers - Goldhanger?
Railway Tavern - Kelvedon
The Swan - Little Totham

all work

I'm still 50/50 (and maybe for Friday!) I've developed a bad knee which has been getting worse since Monday, I don't remeber kocking it on anything so confused about why its so painful... not so bad on the bike, but seems to be bad when I get up out of my office chair and walking around.

Would something like Hurdlemakers entice you out ?

Friday is starting to look a bit marginal.  May be time for Chief to make a call.

In normal circumstances, it would, but the knee is taking a turn for the worse at the moment, I've deployed all-teh-drugz but not seing much of an improvement... which is a bit annoying.  ::-)

OK, if we can't tempt out Jibbers for a beer (another 3 horsemen of the apocalypse due soon?) lets opt for The Chequers at Goldhanger as that is equidistant from those who have expressed an interest this week, and to the launch site of the Witham peloton.

I'll be aiming for a 8:30ish landing...

The local campanologists are due in this evening so they expect to be open until late.

Obviously, the more of us that manage to turn up, the more they will be willing to stay open.

Covid, work, injuries, parental duties and holidays are all getting in the way of a serious phish-up!

Let's leave it for tomorrow evening and reschedule another date time

That's a shame. They are dropping like flies at the moment - there were only two of us out last night.

I might head off for an s240 (or whatever the trendy expression is for going camping for a night), if anyone fancies it.   Probably head towards Suffolk tomorrow afternoon and use an actual campsite.

 >:( That is a shame. Was really looking forward to this and seeing everyone - smashed wrist and all.
Thanks for organising anyway chief and I'll look forward to the next date. Hopefully people recover or we can have a Wed venue that is accessible or trains are at least running. Take care everyone.

I thought s240 was worse than a mmm.... :demon:

Anyway, I'm now aiming to go on the thing that must not be named on Sunday for reasons of train.

Looking forward to the revised date.

My own parental pressures had eased but only slightly (still have to get Acorn#2 from Colchester at 7pm tonight, but redelivery in the morning is now 11:30 instead of 8:30). I still want going to get there until around 8pm.

Dads taxi services are cancelled this week so I am free to attend.
If it is Westerly I'll ride, Easterly and I'll drive.
Just happy to be able to head out.

I saw the Leather bottle mentioned a few weeks ago, or Spiritual home ?

I'm tentative for SH, LB will be okay so long as its the Blackmore one.

Done the commute in today and achilles seems fine but then it did the last time on the way in and played up a bit on the way home, so we shall see. If all okay then I should be good for SH tomorrow and Blackmore is so near to me that I'm pretty sure I'll be good for that whatever!

I'm still troubled by my knee - I tried riding to the pub on Friday evening, OK downhill though it felt better after 4 pints on the return and surprisingly felt OK the next day, Sunday however it was no better than before...

I might try it and see...

UPDATE:

Achilles seemed okay on the way home with little more than a very gentle reminder that its there - perhaps it needs a bit more rest but its not getting any if I can help it. I Seem to have lost a lot of fitness over the weeks since The Flatish ACME Grand, pushing higher heartrates for longer today. Knees are also complaining, which hasn't happened to me in a long time. Still some numbness but not enough to keep me off the bike, so long as riding doesn't put it backwards.

So, I think its probably a yes for the SH, but I'd rather Blackmore as its nearer to me and I'm lazy.

Blackmore Leather Bottle to accomodate Nick and Owen? For jibers, there's not much difference which Leather Bottle it is. But, the Witham Peloton have got to go through Chelmsford or take the long way round.

Witham peloton has been severely depleted of late - a mix of CBA, double plus covid 19(84), work and general apathy.

Let me know if anyone wants to ride from the infamous roundabout, and has a clue where Blackmore is, or I will fall into the general apathy category again.
