Scopes don't make a noise though? And the waveform doesn't match the tones played.

I've had classes singing along to the stepper motors on the CNC router at the school I work at.  :D

I'm not muscially inclined so I haven't tried composing tunes yet.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

The first computer "music" I made was with a ZX81 - not noted for its sound capabilities. However, it did have a grand total of zero shielding, so interfered with broadcast radio receivers, and by flicking in and out of fast mode rapidly enough you could generate a tone. By changing the speed of changing the computer speed and you could play a tune  on all the radios within a few hundred metres :)
