Supposedly Tiger crossings originally had yellow stripes, hence the name. I don't know if this was just on the cycle part.

It's not purple but it is Ti and folding. Or you can have a non folding one with a bottle opener on t'other end:

It might be broken but it's still purple, which was and is the best thing about it, because it's a spork and therefore neither good as a spoon, fork or knife. IMO...  :demon:

Either the Park Tool Spork . . . or the PlanetX Ti stuff (not the folding - they're crap)  https://www.planetx.co.uk/c/q/bikepacking-and-bike-touring/cooking   .... we have 2 sets of the "full function" Ti knife and fork (and the spoon that's not listed at the mo) - excellent - they live in our suitcases ready for alfresco dining or hotel-room-picnics on holidays.

my solution to broken and burned green spork was to go Ti, only problem I don't go nowhere these days and my spork is just sat in my briefcase twiddling it's thumbs  :( :( :(

Do you know, when it broke, and I naturally Googled "metallic purple spork", that was the first thing that came up. It's already on the list... ;)

I hadn't seen the mug though!

(I already have a couple of titanium sporks as well as a titanium mug, so cannot really justify it. But they're not purple... :-[)

For some things, I actually prefer the spork - I like the shape of the Light My Fire ones in particular. It might just be because in the Before Times, when I used to go to an actual workplace to work, I used my spork for lunch every day and got used to it. Eating pasta salad with any other implement just seems wrong now!

In the Before Times, I used a buffet fork or a cake fork in the same circumstances.
I have IKEA children's cutlery if I need a knife.
I think it's partly the plastic-ness I don't like. I also am no fan of the mouth-feel of titanium.

I actually have a couple of Light My Fire plastic sporks. Neither is purple; one is green, the other a bargain basement beige. They are handy to throw into a saddlebag or backpack on the off-chance, but if I know I'll need cutlery, I'll take proper cutlery. I agree with fboab that steel is the feel, but my wallet has never stretched to titanium, so for all I know that feels great as well.

I don't like plastic either[1], but don't have an objection to Ti.

I have a set of the folding Ti stuff linked above - their ability to fit inside a Trangia pan cancels out their ability to come unfolded with repeated spooning motion.  I tend to prefer the real fork to a spork, though.

Barakta likes the LightMyFire stuff for ergonomic reasons, and usually has one lurking in the overfull pockets of her coat for fishing teabags out of things.  We also have a giant one that I saw in an outdoor shop years ago and *had* to buy.  It gets regular use for scooping things out of pans and bowls in the kitchen, because it's a really halfway point between a tablespoon and a ladley thing.

[1] My objection to plastic cutlery is second only to my objection to drinking from (non-disposable) plastic cups.  Too much association with trying to wash the taste of vomit out of my mouth in the back of the car as a kid, I think.

I don't like the mouthfeel of some Ti, my spork is OK but Kim's mug is horrible to drink from...

I carry a light my fire spork inna case in my work bag or the bag I take anywhere serious. I only have mini sporks in my coat these days.

I liked the Light My Fire sporks so much that we now have ti versions.  I say now: we've had them for years.  We have three so that cooking of a second course can happen whilst the previus course is being nom'd.

This is an excellent use (and the reason my bargain basement beige spork is now more of an aged Brooks saddle colour).

Ah, a spork case - I'd totally forgotten those existed! I, too, have sporks in various bags, because I've been caught out without cutlery in the past and it's not fun.

My parents owned a set of splayds.  They were brought out for some meals (the ones that didn't need a knife).

When my parents passed away, I claimed the splayds. MrsC makes fun of me when I eat with one.

I think they are the perfect implement for eating curry, particularly dhal.

Dhal should be eaten with a pinch of chapatti or roti, or possibly a bit of dosa.

Ah bugger.

I've just realised the new rear dynamo light wot arrived today doesn't have a button to discharge the standlight capacitor. That'll be a pain on a bike that intended for train use.

I can return it as I got it through Amazon but it'll be a faff.

I agree with the negative comments regarding Ti mugs and taste. Tin mug would be better. Ti sporks however are really useful but not atm sigh.
