I heard Marlody at the end of Cerys' show on Sunday, which made me sit up and listen to an extraordinary talent. She is in the folk singer/songwriter style but I thought it would be handy to have a thread to alert others to new stuff that's really worth the time to seek out.
What set Marlody apart for me was the piano and the harmonies, the song I heard started off sounding quite derivative, none the worse for that, before launching off somewhere else.

Runaway, mooching around I also found her
Summer which has very strong overtones of Schubert lieder hanging around. I recommend her to the house. As an added bonus in May she's performing in Forest Gate, a short stumble away.
