Goldtec Chainrings
« on: 13 January, 2015, 09:02:13 am »
I'm looking to replace the Sugino messenger chainring on the tempo, but the cheapest I've found them is still over £50.

BETD are selling Goldtec chainrings around £35.    I've had several goldtec hubs and been really happy.

Anyone used their rings or, for that matter, their sprockets ?

Thanks

Rob

I used to use their DH rings on the old fix.  They were cheap but heavy and soft - the teeth didn't seem to last that long.  That was a while ago though, maybe the track rings are different now.

Spa have got TA track rings for about the same price: http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s172p0

TA rings look nice.   Would work quite well with the look of the bike.   Ta.

Size, chain width and PCD?  If you're willing to run something like 42 x 14 or 43 x 14, you can find Sugino BMX 1/8" chainrings in 110 BCD, and they last forever, being ridiculously thick.

It was 130mm.   The other bikes have stronglight track 2000 rings so 144mm.

I was looking for a 48t, so went with the TA.   The tempo now has a chromed Condor sprocket and a silver Izumi chain.   All works quite nicely, but I'm not taking it outside yet.
