Can't feel my toes
« on: 23 September, 2008, 10:48:28 am »
Whilst stuggling with the bike this morning (confined doorway at the top of some stairs) I dropped the bike onto my foot - chainring first.  There are a couple of small holes in my foot now (I wasn't wearing any shoes at the time), but I think I must have hit a nerve because I can't feel my toes now.  Any thoughts?

No, but I'm curling my toes & wincing.  Get it checked by your GP or A&E.  No, honestly!

That's stoker and pilot both done for. Get well soon. Buy some steel toecap boots.

OUCHY! Hope it improves quickly!
I think you've hit/bruised the nerves in your foot.
I think it would be almost impossible to cut the nerves in the injury you describe and you should get the sensation back into your toes in a short while.

I have some nice tan leather, synthetic fur-lined steel toecapped rigger boots going free.
Worn twice; boyfriend can't get on with them. Size 9. I still have half the box; any takers?

Aaaargh! The horror. Chainrings are vicious things, as I myself have learned.

Toecaps won't help - the chainring hit my ankle (which hurts).  I managed to ride the bike afterwards, but it was a very odd sensation.

My first thought was "has someone cut your fingers off?" The nerves are probably just bashed and it'll settle in time, but if you're worried, see your doctor.

Good news.  The feeling returned overnight.  The bruise on my ankle is really tiny; no reflection of how much it hurt at the time.

Hope you had it kissed better, and managed to put it up for the evening while you were pampered...
