I have made the biggest turkey and bacon pie I've ever attempted.

Gastro pubs please note:
This is a pie.  It is completely surrounded with home made short crust pastry.  It is not- repeat NOT - a bowl of stew with a defrosted layer of frozen puff pastry laid over the top of it.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Something from the menu of the Italian restaurant where we will celebrating GillP's birthday with number one son and a couple of cycling chums.

1 pack of leftover sausage meat stuffing (Tescos finest). Two free range eggs from the laydeez in teh back garden. A sprinkling of flour and some mushrooms.

Remove the stems from the mushrooms, stuff with sausage meat. The rest of the meat is rolled into meatballs.

All doused in flour/beaten egg and set on a baking sheet and sprinkled with olive oil. Into the oven for a wee while till brown and crispy.

Served with potato waffles (yea, OK, I know...) and peas and sweetcorn. And ketchup.

worked quite well.

Veggie saucisson, jacket potato, stir-fried sprouts-with-garlic -  and probably the remains of this bottle of nicely-chilled Fino :)

There's carrots in the stew, and a lot of carrot cake in the freezer.

Veggie saucisson,
Which reminds me, why can I no longer buy saucisson in Aberdeen? Sainsbury's have stopped doing it, Tesco in Ellon (middle of commuter land) has it but Tesco Aberdeen doesn't. Arse.

Tonight I hope Pingu's going to be making cheesy bacony leeky macaroni fatty goodness. :P (Otherwise known as macaroni cheese with leek & bacon).
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

We have just had lamb meatballs with homemade tomato sauce and couscous.
Followed by the last of the Christmas pudding and clotted cream.

Now when was that diet starting...

The half a really vegetably lasagne I didn't eat yesterday. It was a joint effort between me and my mum and might be the best I've ever eaten. With a salad and a huge beetroot.

We made enough to feed sixteen hungry people and there's half of it left in our respective freezers. I need to work out how to do the cheese sauce bit as I'm borrowing the two dishes she lent me until I get asked for them back. I'll make them for myself if they're going to be this good!
