Nice write-up. I'll have try and make it to one of the London rides.
Would there be any interest in resurrecting the Carlisle to Newcastle ride if a suitable mid ride stop could be found?
I may have found one. There's now a 24hr Eurogarages service Station place now at Hexham. I'm thinking of doing a DIY over that way this weekend. If I do then I'll try and remember to have a look.

That's a lovely ride report overall but I thought the above was especially sweet.

Sorry yoav, it was a direct copy/paste from my post on Cyclechat where you're "Not Of This Parish" ie you don't post there.
You are OTP on yACF. Obv.

It was great to see you again on the ride .

Thanks.
jogler/Alan S is always in our thoughts on this ride.

That would be good. I like that ride and not just because it's local to me.

There's also a Carlisle to Edinburgh night ride held in June. It's run in the manner of the Dunwich Dynamo and whilst it's not run on a Friday (it's on a Saturday), it does end by the sea, at Cramond on the shore of the Firth of Forth.

I seem to become addicted to night riding 😳
I am often asked, what does YOAV stand for? It stands for Yoav On A Velo

That looked a nice ride. Were any Bromptons present?

Now I have used my intro ride up,
is LCC ten-pound individual insurance enough for more rides or do I need to be a full member of LCC (or affiliate member of CTC/Cycling-UK) to do more rides?

Yes, it was a fabulous night out .
No Bromptons on this ride and I can't actually remember any in the past although, IIRC, Redfalo did it on a Moulton.
The climbs and the descents are better suited to a big wheeled bike (IMO).

AIUI, LCC membership provides the insurance that you need. All you have to do then is send £2 to The Fridays as part of the affiliation to CTC. The £2 covers 12 months worth of FNRttC. There's a Paypal link on the Fridays web-site.

Someone more knowledgeable that me will be along shortly if I've got any of this wrong.

StuAff did it on a Moulton, I think 2 years ago.  Had headset issues which Redfalo helped fix.

Absolutely correct re the insurance.

I think it was a folding Dahon.

I've done it several times on one small wheel.  I only recommend that if you've got sproingy bits.

Yoav is correct, Chutney is a Dahon. Handlepost rather than headset.

I'd agree with Andrew. For climbing and acceleration small wheels either win or are a match for 26+ inch wheels. But handling is twitchier on 406s- fast descents definitely easier on big wheels. Chutney really doesn't handle sketchier surfaces well either. The Litespeed was much more comfortable on the likes of the Glasson Dock path.

Thanks,
As I only have LCC insurance rather than being a member I suppose I would rather (re)join  CTC (errr C-UK) as an affiliate when necessary.
....IIRC, Redfalo did it on a Moulton.
The climbs and the descents are better suited to a big wheeled bike (IMO).
I was more worried about cratered roads (country roads often seem to have craters rather than potholes now...). My now-an-S-typeish (was M) Brompton's climbing is now OK and downhill could just be slower.... alternating hub brakes..
The Brompton means a ten pound foot passenger offer fare on the ferry (these tickets can't have a non-folding bike added like a normal fare can).
