I think my Carradice would have coped much better, even uncovered. It certainly would if it had been oiled in living memory.

As well as the eau de treacle factory emanating from my bike, as I was sitting here a few minutes ago my rear light (Smart Superflash - early model) which I did not switch on yesterday, decided to switch on of its own accord. A change of batteries confirmed that it is 1) dry inside and 2) dead.

Proper Carradice doesn't use shower caps, does it?  Their cordura stuff (which does) is exactly as un-waterproof as Arkel's.

The trad Barley-type canvas seems to work really well and has no need of shower cap technology. I’ve no idea about their more modern stuff.

The stuff in my canvas Pendle was nicely dry. My sandals will need some de-odourising. Some of that water was a bit industrial.

I'm glad people enjoyed the ride.  I enjoy leading it, so that works out well all around. :)

Sorry about the weather.  Considering how fortunate we've been on most rides, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
;D  Andrij.  I pronounce you Complete and Utter GIT

Did you see this piece, Andrij? I'm not sure that you were aware that some of us were asked to get off our bikes by City Hall.

It seems that Corbyn has jumped on this bandwagon.
