Essex YACF events are awesome, if you do any day ride's (esp. wet roads type of thing) or weekends I'll try and come. If you are coming towards London joining day ride's is more likely... Being a west Londoner now

Good thread. Not too taken with OD's view of Norfolk as I grew up there. Before you ask yes I do have the correct number of fingers and toes.

Swimming at Tollesbury pool sounds good. Didn't Tippers say there were also BBQ facilities there as well? How about a ride there along the sea wall from Heybridge basin? Quite partial to a bit of a dip in the Chelmer as well on occasion. Ulting church is a fine spot.

Is there a scale, like 1 to 10 with descriptions of what each scale means... ???  (and where do I fit on that scale? I might be opening pandora's box with this one  ;D)

I'm not saying anything or it could cost me a fortune in Merlot apologies.  I already owe Ted a glass for saying he was pregnant, I probably owe Christophe one for being rude about Norfolk and if I commented that you being from Teeside was probably the least of your problems I'd no doubt owe you one too.  Oh, hang on...

A wise move, and half a dozen straws, not the plastic ones obviously as they kill dolphins.

Getting back on topic.

Tollesbury has much to commend it.  There is a proper campsite, a swimming pool, a tidal swimming pool, tennis courts, a sailing club and a marina - not to mention the myriad delights of downtown Tollesbury.  The local Indian (very good) delivers there as well.

Grey Sheep and I could bring our sister ships in for G&Ts on deck or possible even a race or a trip to the Green Man at Bradwell - the only snag being that Tollesbury is very tidal so you really need a good high tide first thing in the morning for a day out with a teatime return.

Jiber could bring his turbo and bag some estuary squares.

Yes, a campsite and I believe it has EHUs, chemical waste disposal etc - everything you need for your 'van but, as you will be arriving by bike, a tent might be easier to shift.

A bike?  What’s that?  I’ve moved on!  ;D

I don't think your allowed the caravans at tollesbury. That's based on having never seen any there and some recollection your allowed motorhomes but not caravans. I may be entirely making that up but looking up facts would be against the ethos. The campsite is good if you want to use their swimming pool maybe a bit dear otherwise but might do a bike arrival discount.

No caravans is correct. Hadn't realised that the swimming pool referred to isn't the tidal pool but there own! Website below:

Depending on when and if you accept foreigners I would be interested in a weekend camping :)
the slower you go the more you see

I reckon first weekend in May (when the swimming pool opens) also bank holiday. Only 25 pitches though - we could fill that bad boy!
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!
