Did it really matter that it was inaccurate? I'd rather some idea of distance travelled in real time than wait for a Strava upload later in the evening. That's still the "official" record.

On that point I see that the Strava feed on Steves website is now in km and not miles.

From what I remember the mileage was a  total figure which was already something like 8% out -- after a month or two - this figure would have become meaningless.

we were also getting  queries about the difference - so rather than keep having an inaccurate and getting more inaccurate every day figure -- it has gone.

I agree on a daily thread but think that perhaps they could be merged into weekly blocks after a suitable interval has passed.

I think it is a shame that the tracker does not display distance. It's not hard to understand what is going on.

Why merge them?

Why not leave them the way they happened, the way we all contributed to them day by day as Steve rode day by day?

AFAICS all merging would achieve would be to make things more confusing to read and less searchable.

Less searchable than it is already? Wowsa.

Quite.

This is cycling history in the making.
It is simpler than it looks.

Interesting in that I've just come home, read this thread and haven't got a clue how Steve got on on the 5th!
I'm gonna limp to the pub and drink 'til the rest of me is as numb as my arse.

I vote for thread a day.

I like this format too, but it made me realize we'll want some pinned posts (or a pinned index post) in the main Tommy Goodwin board for the frequently accessed things that may otherwise get buried after a month. Donation info, tracker pages, etc.

Ok. Day 5 is on Strava. 182.3 miles, giving Steve a total of 953.9 miles and an avberage of 190.8 per day so far. His daily average is 12 miles per day more than Tommy.

Just spotted this little jem on Strava...

Steven Abraham just upgraded to Premium, proving how much he loves to ride.

I grabbed some screen shots of it, if anyone requires. (Else it's probably a simple mock up)
