No, this doesn't belong in Audax   :P.

But if you want a better idea of the amazing stuff going on inside your neat, off-the-shelf Garmin, take a look at the DIY version.

Excellent, that's my lunchtime reading.

I wonder if anyone has done a homebrew ANT+ integration before. I've got a Xilinx FPGA prototyping board somewhere...

Last time I got my soldering iron out to do something like that I accidentally made what I now know to be a Vorpel Ion cannon. I got in a lot of trouble for it and had to promise that I'd never ever tell anyone about it.

If you want to do it the boring way, I suspect integrating something like this part from Nordic isn't so very hard.  Building your own: you might have to sign up with the ANT alliance to get hold of the specs.
