Is there anything similar. If so where can I get them?
If not, what's the nearest thing?
Really grateful for any suggestions.

I think the IGN series, at 1:100000, are ideal for cycling. I have bought several but have yet to take them to France.
Try Stanfords (http://www.stanfords.co.uk/stock/france-ign-top-100-road-maps-of-france-previously-serie-verte/).

IGN are indeed the thing. They do a number of scales, including 1:25,000. Any local shop will have them.

As above. They do 1:25000 and 1:100000, but not 1:50000. Some of them are overlaid with irritating tourist info which can obscure map detail. Overall they are very good. IGN's website (http://www.ign.fr/rubrique.asp?rbr_id=1113&lng_id=EN).

If you want contours and information like OS then the IGN are the way to go. For most bike rides I buy the Michelin yellow 300 series which cover a couple of departments. They don't have contours though, they are not a patch on Landranger but fine if you are just doing road cycling.

Thanks for the replies and links they're very useful.
I think the 1:100,000 will be the thing. My mate and I will only be meandering for eight days, with a max of around 50 miles per day (providing we can find accomodation). I'll probably buy more maps than I need as I quite like collecting them - don't know why.
-
I usually use the 100s, only buying the 25s if there is somewhere I will be staying and want to explore in detail.
