It's just an advert.  Bit cheeky, but then that's the way Virgin operate.

What I find amusing is the fact that businesses generally are prepared to spend millions on advertising without realising that generally it's wasted.

None more so than the ones of RZ's employers - that fat useless bloke comes across as a Nationwide employee

Seems that some (well 29) people are annoyed enough by the Virgin ad to complain about it.  I doubt Virgin are too upset as they get even more media time.

I liked the ad.

I'm surprised nobody is getting worked up over the use of striking miners (along with other iconic scenes of the 20th century)  in the current TV advert for Hovis. Is this in some way less offensive?

I thought this was more reminiscent of the later riots- Poll Tax etc. I take this from the chant 'Kill The Bill' and the fact that the Police were in more contemporary riot gear.
