Thanks for organising a brilliant event yesterday, good weather and an extra hour the night before, although the weather was probably out of your control.
Cheers, Colin

Thanks to all those that entered and took part in the inaugural Ride the Lancashire Lights 200. Better start with the stats:

This was a 208 km route; heading north-east from Bispham, Lancashire into the Yorkshire Dales. The weather couldn't have been much better for the time of year and most riders seemed to enjoy the day out, with just the 1 reportable accident.

Below is a collection of photo's from the event:

I've had some enquiries as to whether this event counts as a PBP pre-registration ride. The answer is yes (see below)!

**As the ACP season runs from 01 November - 31 October, this event counts as a PBP pre-registration ride, so for those completing the event if this 200 is the only/longest BRM event ridden during 2018, they'll be able to pre-register for next year's PBP as early as 11th March 2019.**

This 200 is the only 200 km BRM event in the AUK calendar during the month of October!

As a Sarf Londoner who really doesn't know this part of the country, I only had the vaguest idea where the ride goes, so I have created a GPX at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28739216. No liability if it deviates from the route given by the routesheet! If the weather is even halfway decent, looks like a great ride.

I could not spot any convenience store en-route after Sedberg, with a 79K stage back to base, so I guess it's a case of buying a bap or two in Seberg.
Events I am running: 5th September 2021, the unseasonal Wellesden Reliability; HOPEFULLY Early April 2022, 3 Down London - New Forest 300K Audax;

There's a snack bar at Kirby Lonsdale and at Caton, both very popular with motor bikers and you'll be sharing the road with these guys.  These are likely to stay open only until about 4ish.  I've used the Co-op at Caton, on the right before the left turn to Quernmore, and that's open until 10pm.

I've always avoided Andy's rides - nothing personal Andy but I find the AAA points on offer not suitable for my abilities.  But this is one I could manage, and enjoy.  Very similar to the Northern Dales from Arnside which is on the limit of what I can do comfortably.  Unfortunately I'm off the bike at the moment, but this is on my to-do list.

It's worth knowing that the large Spar opposite the school in Sedbergh is the main shop in the area, and there isn't much on the main street now.

Good to know thanks - will be attempting this one for the first time next weekend (weather permitting - hopefully will be a lot better than this weekend!)

I know Andy sent out a route sheet a week or so ago and I've plotted a GPX as best as I could from it - but does anyone have a GPX of the latest route I can double check mine with - bit worried might have sent myself down a busier road or a bigger climb than I should have?

COVID-19:

Covid-19 measures will be in place for this event. Geographically, the event is held entirely within England so only Covid-19 government advice applicable to England will apply. Riders will be despatched in groups of up to 6-riders at a time!

The start will be outside the Bispham community centre as per usual but we'll have access to the community centre for the finish. Please don't attend this event if you have any Covid 19 symptoms. See www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/ ; or if, according to Government guidelines/regulations, you've been requested to self-isolate or quarantine; or if you have been asked to isolate by NHS Test and Trace.

Riders who attend the event will be required to leave their phone number with the organiser before they start in accordance with the test & trace system currently in force. Further details will be made available to riders in the information pack that'll be emailed to all entrants.

The event will obviously have to be cancelled - possibly at short notice - if north-west England re-enters lockdown. All entrants will receive a refund if so.

It is with great regret and sheer disappointment that I've had to cancel the Ride the Lancashire Lights 200, due to be held this Sunday 25 October 2020, because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. North-west England, the area that the event was due to be held in, has entered into the "Tier 3" phase of the government's Covid-19 'traffic light' system so I've decided not to proceed.

All the entrants have been advised and their entry fees have been refunded as arranged.

I know a lot of the riders will be disappointed as much as I am but I feel there's no alternative in what is an unprecedented and rapidly re-evolving situation, especially here in north-west England!

For information purposes, next year's edition has been set for Sunday 31 October 2021.

Finally, look after yourselves over the Winter months and I look forward to catching up with many of you all next year if not beforehand and hopefully enjoy some happier times after what has been a miserable year for seasoned Randonneurs.

Kind regards,

Thanks to the 13 riders that took part in this year's Ride the Lancashire Lights 200.

This was a 208 km route; heading out of Lancashire into the Yorkshire Dales. The weather couldn't have been much worse with heavy rain and high winds for much of the day

Despite the poor conditions this year I took a few photos and uploaded them onto the AUK Facebook page at:

https://m.facebook.com/groups/audaxuk/permalink/10161341272268642/?m_entstream_source=group

That's it for me this year as my next organised event's the Delightful Dales 200 quickly followed by the Knock Ventoux 300 in April next year.

Full list of events I'm organizing next year here:

https://burnleyccevents.com/

I'll be riding a few Audax's over the coming Winter: next up is Philip Whiteman's 200 next weekend so maybe see some of you over the coming months.

Just a heads up with a little over 2 weeks to go to this year's edition.

Route follows a anti-clockwise circuit heading out of Blackpool across the Fylde before climbing over the Bowland Fells into the Yorkshire Dales. Then it's over Garsdale Head to Sedbergh before a final run through the Lune Valley and Fylde.

About 2200 metres of climbing, earning 2 AA points.

Three "free of choice" controls all offering food/drink available for purchase. No info's!

Event is BRM so if the Ride the Lancashire Lights 200 is the longest randonnee you complete this season you can use it as a pre-qualifier for the forthcoming PBP, if you haven't done so already.

Don't forget to put your clocks back 1-hour the night before.

Still not too late to enter, about 60 entries so far.
