[HAMR] 20th August - Teethgrinder Day 13 / 232
« on: 20 August, 2015, 06:53:31 am »
Steve has just left his overnight stop between Mortagne and Dreux (7:30am local time). Looks like he has maximised sleep stop time within the 90 hrs rather than going for a time. Which seems sensible given his larger goal.

PBP finished in 87:34.   So 764.29 miles in 87.567 hours = 209.47 miles per day for the PBP element of the OYTT.

I expect he'll be off to the ferry shortly. What for most people in St Cyr at the moment is a highlight of their year (or maybe even their cycling career) is just another day at the office for TG.

Go Steve.

Yes, but a very unusual sort of office  ;)

Go Steve!

Looks like he's off to Brest again (at least part of the way)!  That would be quite appropriate as he is effectively doing a permanent PBP.

EDIT:  Ah, he's just turned north towards home.  Shame really - it would have been great if he'd just done the whole thing again.

He was probably just checking if there was any food left over at the controls.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

Looks like catching the ferry is demanding a higher speed than PBP !

Seems to have missed the ferry.
Got to within about 5km, then backtracked to a campsite.

Go Steve.

I spoke to Steve briefly at the start - we started off together at the tail end of the last of the 90-hour groups.  We even rode together briefly. He said he regarded PBP as "a bit of a holiday".

I think that the back of that group was a good choice for him in some ways. There was no chaotic overtaking or jostling,  and I watched him picking his way through the groups in relative safety as the groups thinned.
