Steve is the first of the contenders to pass the 1 million vertical feet ascended (or 34.4 Everests, 4.5 Everests per month)
Eddington Numbers 130 (imperial), 182 (metric) 574 (furlongs)  114 (nautical miles)

Another insight into the size of the task, and the powers being put into it.

I am puzzled by todays' route, presumably Steve has accommodation arranged in East Anglia tonight?

Just to clarify, I didn't pass him, just went past him going in the other direction.

I couldn't catch him if I tried  ;D Even if he had already ridden 200 miles

Derek

GO STEVE - My wife thinks I am sad when I said that I had shouted this at Steve as we past. She was a little way back and to his credit he acknowledged her as he went past.

Perhaps a Travelodge?  Looks like he may have dropped his gear off and gone out for a loop to make up the miles.

There is a travelodge where the tracker puts him. (a couple of miles from where my dad used to live).

He's tweeted that 'Hasty Travelodge booked to dodge headwind and risk of being out past bedtime.'

Perhaps he should ask for sponsorship from Travelodge?  That would work out really well - having decent cycle-friendly places to stay all over the country.  Would certainly break up the boredom of doing the same loops for another 11 months, and could be adjusted to suit weather predictions.

Would certainly be more convincing than Lenny Henry falling on a Premier Inn bed! Get on the blower to their ad agency or head office. (Isn't Premier part of the Whitbread conglomerate?)

Quick question: just how many supporters does Steve have who he could call on for accommodation around the country? Travel Lodges and Premier Inns are many, but you cant regulate noise from corridors and other rooms in the way that a supporter might be able to in their own house. Plus overnight servicing etc will have to be done by Steve (I am sure he is more than capable), when he could be eating or sleeping. Nevertheless, I hope the old saying of 'change is as good as a rest' resonates and the difference relieves not only the headwind but the tedium of covering similar routes on a daily basis.

Also it is noticeable that Kurt with his support seems to achieve a good deal of consistency, whereas the Mersey Roads and PBP have created 'hiccups' in Steve's daily results probably through tiredness of 24 hour riding?

Quick answer:
No idea of the the actual figure (tens?? ); but if you look at his track since Jan 1st, any trip more than ~150miles from MK is almost sure to be an overnight stop with a supporter.
