Dead graphics card?

It probably is but I'll ask here first anyway just to be sure.

History:  I picked up the card secondhand and it wouldn't work in this pc despite having the right spec.   What happened was that it displayed vertical wide mainly green stripes separated by mainly white narrower stripes.   When I tried it in a different machine it worked just fine so I left it in there.

I fired up the latter pc today only to be confronted with the green and white vertical screen again.   The machine seemed to fully boot (familiar noises from windows) but of course I could not use it.

Bin job?

Oh, I'm after a agp 8x 512mb passive card if anybody has one gathering dust.   :)

Since moving it seemed to cure it before, it could be something as simple as a poor contact somewhere.  If you haven't already, I'd try reseating the card and all the connectors.  If you've got any additional video cables, try replacing that as well.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Thanks Tim but I've done all that to no avail.   I'll probably give it one more try tomorrow but I'm not really hopeful.   :(

It sounds like faulty RAM on the card.
