Title: Catch 22
Post by: Exit Stage Left on 23 June, 2019, 10:01:01 pm
I watched the first episode on catch-up. So the fact that the TV adaptation follows a straighter timeline than the novel or the film was obscured by the adverts.

I was exposed to a lot Sergeant Bilko as a youngster, it filled the same sort of niche that Dad's Army does to this day, so the idea of a mixture of military camp life and wheeler-dealing is familiar. There's lots of harrowing action footage in this show, the sensitive might come down with secondary PTSD.

In the 1970s the focus was on the Kafkaesque nature of Air Force life, but the privatising instincts of Milo Minderbinder might strike more of chord today.
