It is Bill Frindall, the bearded wonder (now sadly RIP).

and the soubriquet was of course given by Brian Johnston - (probably a surfeit of cake and lunchtime drinks).
I thought 'sports-related' was going to be too much of a clue; the cricket score card was  a dead giveaway......
