Thanks once again, Bruce. You’ve been very helpful. Well. The torque arm is definitely in two pieces. On the other side it’s now in three, with two pivot points! I’ve no idea how else to do it. Unless I get a new arm made. Incidentally, the original torque arm is nowhere near the thickness of steel of the new one. About 2mm only.

if you can drill and tap new holes in the right places, replicating the original arrangement on both sides of each wheel might be adequate.

If the torque reaction arms face opposite ways (left side forwards, right side backwards) then the axle ought to find it rather difficult to escape from its mountings or rotate.

However if the torque reaction arms can be longer and rigid, the loads can be lower (where the arms bear) for any given torque value.
