TV set-top box compatibility
« on: 22 February, 2019, 08:06:49 pm »
I’m not well clued up on TV stuff. Are set-top boxes specific to the provider? I want to change my EE box for one that is not shit (specifics yet to be investigated). Will this just work?

As far as I can see, EE TV is just the same as any Freeview, except arranged in an EE branded interface, plus there is 24 hour replay of selected channels. Not that it matters much to me, but will that function be lost when changing the box?

Here is a description of what you get with EE TV and what it offeres over and above freeview.

You won't miss much if you go for standard freeview or freeview play/youview services.

I'd recommend humax boxes as being generally pretty good.

Thanks tonycollinet. I'll see what's available in due course.
