I had a dream that a friend and I were trying to cycle along every street in Basingstoke, while people on the internet argued about the efficiency of our routing, whether particular streets actually counted as 'in Basingstoke' or not, and whether it was in the spirit of mandatory route DIY by GPS (in spite of our attempt not being under audax conditions).

Clearly too many 'current thoughts on the record attempt' before bed, but I'm not sure how Amazingstoke comes into it  ???

Surely you mean "Basingrad"?

Last night I had to take my old cat (dead these last 15 years) to the cattery. I only had the moulton for transport and no cat basket so he hung on around my neck. All went well until a car cut us up and he dug his claws in.

I was meeting an old friend (age 50, married with 2 teenagers) for a coffee in central London and she turned up on a Boris Bike, wearing a leather jacket and floral hot pants.

I have no idea what to make of that and, having been told about it, neither does she!
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

The Pingus, who I have never met, hacked an electronics retailer's web site such that an expensive 5:1 speaker package showed up as "laboratory equipment", enabling them to get one or other of their employers to pay for it.  Norty Pingus.

We were watching the Olympics gymnastics, where a young lad was running across the square thing that they jump and dance about on. As he jumped he cramped up and crashed down onto the matt in that same shape/position he froze in. It was good because all he had to do was to get unto the matt for England to win. If he didn't they would only get silver and gold would be the first time ever in all sports that England won gold. The whole team - about 20 people - rejoiced and created a human pyramid while jumping about. The bad news was that he froze, so the tv host then went to the expert panel to find out, the panel was a group of kindergarten children. The first question was - so do you think that he froze because of all the gunpowder residue that is in the air?

Sadly the alarm went off then.

I dreamt that I met Terry Wogan, and thought "This is good, I'll be able to post about it on the tenuous claims to fame" thread.

This is much better than the other night's asthma-induced bikes-on-trains nightmare.  It had everything except hand injury, so I must have been lying on my side.

Last night I dreamt that I was having a skype conversation with That Deano as he was floating on a lilo in a health spa swimming pool.
It took me ages to get his attention as he was wearing a pair of No2Daughter's purple over-ear headphones and a bright yellow snorkel.
And Deano, I was mighty unimpressed with your choice of swimming trunks. They were very Hawaiian.

I dreamt up a new way to mend punctures. I was cutting right through the tube next to the puncture, pulling the punctured section down inside the other end of the tube and gluing the ends together.

This is such a wonderful way to mend punctures that I present it here for the good of cyclist-kind.

I have an old English bicycle book (1930s?) that describes exactly that method of fixing badly punctured tubes. I guess it would work for those big star-shaped blowouts.

I had a corker last night, woke me up at 4:38 because it was so intense.

I was at work when a friend phoned me to say we have a gig tonight. I say fine, but you'll have to pick up my guitars and amps because I won't have time, coming straight from work. OK, he says, meet us at this hotel. I get there and am immediately escorted into the basement by burly security men in dark glasses and earpieces. Somebody gives me a leather jacket, which is very fine and fits me like a glove. I'm also given a pair of cuban-heeled boots so I'm tottering about like a Valleys girl at the end of a hen night in Cardiff. Then some bloke comes up and says "I'm from Fender, we made this guitar for you". On a stand is something I've never ever seen, a cross between a Strat and a Tele, black with gold plastic knobs like a Les Paul. I pick it up and it's feather-light, very resonant and plays like a dream.

I turn round to look at my bandmates and who is sitting on a stool trying to look inscrutable and enigmatic is... Bono. At this point it dawns on me what is going on. The Edge has left and I've been drafted in as his replacement. I should point out that I'm not really a fan of U2! Somebody says "time to go" and we're bundled out into a waiting limo. At the destination I get out and am confronted by hordes of screaming girls but we're escorted to the venue. At some VIP tables I spot my sister and my two nieces who've obviously come to see me perform. At this point I'm getting a bit overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation so I make a beeline to their table, glad to see some familiar faces. I was so worried about performing in front of a stadium crowd I think that's what woke me up.

I was roadieing for Altered Images and Clare Grogan was on stage giving her all singing Happy Birthday but stopped half way through to declare that her hair was all wrong for this song- it was styled perectly for I Could Be Happy. I then had to remind her that her dance was all wrong as well- she was doing the I Could Be Happy dance. The live recording bell then went off and morphed into the alarm clock........

Amongst lots and lots of weirdness, there was an article on the BBC website about Sleater Kinney and U2 getting into a bidding war for a lighting rig that had been designed by Michael Hutchinson. It had 20 lights and projected an image of a mouse. There was a video interview/montage with Sleater Kinney, who were very cool. Randomly James McNew from Yo La Tengo popped up in it.

In another section I was filtering down the side of traffic along a street with set back buildings and an avenue of trees. I remembered there used to be a small WWII transport plane parked in front of the building ahead, removed a couple of years ago. As I got to the ASL my club gen sec was there. They were unloading a steel sculpture of a plane, and the fuselage was on the crane. It looked like the old one, but carved out of a big tree. Everyone was clapping. I tried to get some photo's with my phone but it was swaying too much.

I was scanning bananas with a bar code scanner. There were two scanners and if I used the wrong one it read the bananas  themselves rather than the bar code (which couldn't be seen).

Are you sure that was a dream, and not one of nikki's projects?

That raises some really disturbing possibilities. Because it was definitely a dream, but what if my dream was itself one of nikki's projects? Not only does that make nikki probably the world's most unlikely evil genius white-cat-stroking mastermind (and last time I saw her, she did say she was cat-sitting... ), it is weird enough to be a plot in Phineas and Ferb.

23 pages of dreams and pretty much an absence of weird sexual stuff. Missed the incest, sodomy, fetishism, repressed homosexual yearnings etc and animal sex that is fairly normal dream topics. Must be something to do with cycling, or editing.
I can't believe YACF dreams are actually as dull and vanilla as this thread suggests. But I wouldn't post my actual dreams here either.
