Reading the rules it specifies a hardshell helmet.
Are helmets enforced/mandatory ?

Quote from: rules
It is mandatory to wear a hard shell protective helmet for the duration of 1001 MILES ITALY.
Non-compliance entails exclusion from the event

The rules seem pretty unambiguous.

It's there requirement to be the equivalent of a Britic Cycling Licence holder that puts me off... well ok and the amount of climbing.

Rides in Italy require helmets and its enforced. .. Just have to accept it.

As for a bc license thats just a iffy translation,  your auk membership is fine you just send a copy of your membership card.

You will need a doctor's note too.
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...

The vaccination programme is eventually gaining momentum in Italy and the rest of the world, too. Therefore, the organizers of 1001 Miglia have recently stated that it will take place this summer, starting on August 16th as scheduled. Adequate safety measures will protect riders, organizers and in general everybody involved. Is anybody looking forward to participating?

Yes, places are still available and there's also the possibility to get a place (usually at a discounted rate) from someone that registered in the first months of 2020 and - with all what's happened - is now willing to give up. The organizers authorize this sort of after-market. I have a friend in this situation...

My entry from last year has already been rolled over to this year. Flights were re-booked last year and hotel as well, so everything is in place. Fingers crossed it goes ahead!

I have a place that was rolled over and will not be able/want to ride this year. I didn’t  know you were allowed to trade places so if any one wants a place ,with a bag drop, at a significant discount then DM me.  Also if anyone knows how I actually trade the place then a nudge in right direction of what to do would be most welcome.

To pass your place to somebody else: once you have found someone, get in touch with the organizers. They'll make it happen. If you don't find anybody and are sure you won't come, remember that you have time up to half of July to ask for a - very partial: only 30% - refund, but to obtain it you must show a proof of the fact that you can't participate because of some problem (usually health problems).

Bike check and registration booked for 11:05, start time booked for 16:45.

Great to have a grand tour to look forward to, even if there is a chance things don't happen!
