Freezer problem.
« on: 31 May, 2021, 10:52:12 pm »
I've got an medium size Zanussi freezer.  Recently it seems to be running all the time & the red warning light on the front is permanently on.   There are 2 wire & piping "shelves" in it which separate the 3 compartments.   The top one is fine , the lower is severely iced up.

What could be causing this ?  The door seal seems fine, it's not over full.     It's still under warranty so I guess I can call John Lewis up & ask them to do something  ???

'Call John Lewis' sounds to me like it would be your best bet. Make it their problem.

Has it been defrosted recently?

If it is frosted up, it won't cool properly.

If it gets frosted up quickly, there has to be air leaking in.

I was going to say defrost it first. Mine was being bolshy and the engineer said they can just get all frozen up inside the back panel. It was fine after being left 24hrs to defrost.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Agreed, unless the online manual/troubleshooting guide tells you to do anything different, I'd defrost before getting anyone out.

You know that's the first thing they'll tell you to do ...
