Posting from an office there now.  I shan't make the obvious joke 

It's lunchtime and it's like being in Junior School.  They brought me a brown bag with some slightly crap sandwiches and now that lunch is over and the brown bags are collected up and put in the bin, a load of people are sleeping at their desks.

It's like Quiet Time, only with some really rather impressive snores.

I went to a seminar last month, where one of the speakers said Microsoft have a series of lunchtime presentations and people are invited to eat sandwiches while listening.  Because the sandwiches come in a brown paper bag, Microsoft call this "brownbagging".

With a leer, he added, "which sounds a bit like dogging.  Or cottaging."

first encountered 'brown bagging' in some of those appalling American sitcoms in the eary 70's.  At least 'dogging' wasn't widespread prevalent in those days.

Maybe the two could be combined?  After all, picnic areas seem popular for voyeuristic automotive conjugation, although it's probably not a trip for all the family. 

Unless we're talking about picnic areas in the Forest of Dean, obviously.

Brown bag lunches are a legacy of the nineties consultancy invasion, the likes of Andersen Consulting et al.   It simply means work through your lunch, which is, incidentally, probably illegal in most cases.

CCC (Corporate Consultant Culture) is a deadly disease...
