I’m pretty sure you did do the Invicta 200, citoyen.  I recall letting you start from home and you joining the start in Otford.  Since we didn’t have a child then it must have been 14 or 15 years ago.

Oh yes, that's right - I'd completely forgotten about that. Just checked my records - it was 2007. And indeed 2006 as well!

Looking at the control points listed on the brevet card is bringing back some memories... most of them good.  ;D

Otford-Goudhurst-Hythe-Whitstable-info near Hollingbury Hill-Otford

We quit organising in 2006 so I think we were stamping cards with a baby at Hythe in 2007.

Nice one. Please pass on my thanks. I should probably make an effort to get in touch with him myself - will definitely do so if I decided I want to go down the route of making this a perm.

In the meantime, I've cobbled together a close approximation of the route from memory - might be out in one or two small details but I reckon this is near enough:

Also started playing around with variations, partly to avoid bits of road that I'd rather not ride on these days, partly inspired by the coastal route you shared earlier, and came up with this (which eschews Rye for your old favourite - Dungeness):

- this uses a lot of cycle paths so probably not suitable for a perm, but could easily be adapted for anyone who prefers to stay on the road. Quite a few of these cycle paths wouldn't have existed the last time the Kent Corners was run.

I think KC also went to a pub near Dover

Btw forgot to address this point before - it was the Chance Inn at Guston.

I've dug out my slightly dog eared copy of the 2003 route sheet and scanned it in.  Send me your e-mail address if you would like a copy.

Having checked it against the routesheet Grandad kindly sent me, it seems my memory is better than I gave myself credit for - only out on a couple of minor details (and a couple of points where the road layout has changed slightly).

Now to actually get round to going out and riding it...
